SAPA Strategy 2023-2027
Five years after the fusion, SAPA reflects on its achievements
Five years after the fusion between the Swiss Dance Archive and the Swiss Theatre Collection on 1 January 2018, the SAPA Foundation now reflects on its achievements. The fusion process has been completed, the main concern remains the preservation of the cultural heritage of the performing arts in all its facets, and this in the age of digital change.
As a specialised institution and thanks to its two strategic axes of archive (holdings and collections) and centre of expertise (national information and documentation centre for the preservation of the performing arts in Switzerland), SAPA occupies a leading and recognised place in the field of the performing arts.
In a cultural sector that has been growing steadily since the second half of the 20th century while at the same time changing, the long-term financing of the foundation is a challenge. SAPA appeals to the willingness of the public sector as well as private sponsors to support these developments and advocates for increased cooperation between the archival institutions.
