SAPA Foundation and Wikidata (2024)

11,000 new records for Swiss performing arts productions published in Wikidata

In the first half of 2024, over 11,000 new entries related to  Swiss performing arts productions were created in Wikidata. This was made possible by a partnership established in 2023 between the SAPA Foundation, Swiss Archive of the Performing Arts, and the Wikimedia CH association. These entries represent nearly 20 percent of all productions documented by the SAPA Foundation – marking  a first milestone in the collaboration between the two organisations.

Five Swiss institutions have been chosen for this first batch:

– Stadttheater Basel (period covered 1834-1968): 7,861 productions

– Schauspielhaus Zürich (period covered 1921->): 2,550 productions

– Theatre de Vidy, Lausanne (period covered 1989->) : 766 productions

– Théâtre de Carouge – Atelier de Genève (period covered 1958->) : 664 productions

– Teatro sociale, Bellinzona : 64 productions
